Priding themselves on innovation and excellence, Culinary Edge provides a top-quality service to a broad range of functions from boardroom lunches, private suppers and cocktail parties, to large-scale dinners, product launches and special events.

Their customers include includes high profile contracted venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney Theatre and North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club, and they also own and operate a fully equipped, 450 sqm state of the art commercial kitchen at Marrickville.

Since its inception in 1995, the business has grown through word of mouth, maintaining a consistent and loyal clientele based on the quality of their food and service. “We believe that with catering, bigger is not always better, but rather a personal, hands on approach delivers quality and the ability to respond quickly to market trends,” explains Simon Fox, Director of Culinary Edge.

Culinary Edge approached Redcat when they realised that they had an opportunity to streamline the business and harness the productivity gains to increase their focus on creating unforgettable culinary events. They were using separate systems for back end financials and POS and knew that by integrating these two crucial sides of the business they could save time and money.

The POS terminal collection points for timesheet data enabled a fully integrated payroll which has probably been the biggest benefit to us, saving us time and money.
Simon explains; “The financial side of the system was key to us. As we operate a number of venues, we needed to make sure we had a solution that handled with multiple sites and their busy requirements.”

“We wanted a something easy to use, but comprehensive, giving us the reports a business of our size requires. No more endless cross referencing and reconciling.”

He adds that having a single inventory management system across the entire business was another highly beneficial aspect. “It cuts down our need for double processing and data entry which results in more accurate analysis of stock movements.”

The implementation process was “very straight forward”, according to Simon. “We received a thorough training program prior to the implementation, as well as training support once the system had been installed.”
